Meeting between Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), Jordan and Inter Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT), February 12, 2021, Islamabad

A team of Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), Jordan called on Dr. Tahir Naeem, Executive Director Inter Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT) on February 12, 2021 at INIT Headquarters, Islamabad. Muhammad Atiq-ur-Rehman, Senior Program Officer INIT and Dr. Akber Abid Gardezi, Manager INIT were also present in the meeting.

The two member delegation representing INWRDAM comprised of Dr. Marwan Alraggad, Executive Director INWRDAM and Mr. Jalal Al-Qaryouti, Programs Manager INWRDAM.  

INWRDAM is working to foster closer cooperation among the OIC states in the field of development and management of water resources.

The meeting between two entities discoursed about submission of project proposal titled “Leading the digital transformation for Water, Energy, Food (WEF) Nexus in OIC: Guidance notes for efficient ICT use in states with limited resources”.

The project aims at:

i)              Investing the digital transformation during COVID19 crises to plan for the efficient ICT use for 2020-2030;

ii)             Creating guidance notes for governments with limited resources on achieving Agriculture Sustainability through water use efficiency using digital technologies (GIS, AI, Big Data, and Apps);

iii)           Defining tools to achieve policymaking that is based on accurate data;

iv)           WEF Nexus Capacity Building through regional consultations; and

v)            Virtual/ Physical Training and Workshops for the training of trainers on Food Security using international collaborations of INIT and INWRDAM.

The participants had a detailed discussion about the project and the role of INWRDAM and INIT. The project’s execution strategy, outreach, utility and implications also came under discussion. The Executive Director INIT assured INIT’s full cooperation and support in making this project a success. The participants of the meeting also urged for strengthening of ties and stimulating and enhancing future cooperation between the two networks.
